agirlwaiting: I don’t normally re-blog such things. My heart isn’t easily carried away by notions of an earthly relationship because I can honestly say I want Christ more. But when He blesses you with THE friendship of such a man that changes how you look at life and challenges you each and every day to be a better woman of God and live better for Christ… it’s worth exhorting others to wait through sharing. It’s been a year since Cody and I met on Tumblr via Susanna. Maybe someday we’ll write about our story. Neither us came here to meet anyone. I was so guarded, still recovering from hurt of a past relationship and he having freshly repented of a past lifestyle and now willing to follow Christ in radical obedience. Our sin is in the same. How refreshing and comforting to be in a friendship with someone who openly admits his frailty and sinful nature, but so radically opposes evil in the same breath—someone like me. Someone who doesn’t try to be better than me, someone who isn’t self-righteous or boasting of what he hasn’t done… but a sinner.  It’s been a year. Looking back, I never expected all of this. I never expected to join Tumblr in January 2011 and begin a friendship with someone that is 9 hours away just 6 months later. God, I truly believe with all my soul, had a different plan.  Lord willing, and I say that with my hope in CHRIST while not worrying about what tomorrow may bring, we will meet in July for the very first time in person. Has it been a hard year? No doubt. But I can say through all the miscommunications, the tears, the waiting, the prayers we have poured out to Christ for His will to simply be done…  It has ALL been worth it.  Whether God allows me to display His covenant of Himself and the church in a marriage with Cody Wayne, I do not know. I am simply asked to obey and follow. I follow Christ and what He says. His counsel wins.  And I am overcome by His sovereignty and grace… May His will be done, not man’s.
